Jenifer R. Slayton, APRN, FNP-C
Jenifer Slayton, APRN, FNP-C is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who will be providing patient-centered care at North Texas Allergy & Asthma Associates in Dallas, Texas.
Jenifer was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, and relocated to Dallas, Texas in 2001. She received both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University and is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Her nursing experience has allowed her to care for the sickest and tiniest patients in the NICU, many children and staff members in schools as a school nurse, and for patients of all ages as a registered nurse in a medical dermatology clinic.
Jenifer resides in Flower Mound with her husband, Shawn, and their 4-pound Shih Tzu, Finley. Their daughter, Madison, is following in her footsteps and will begin her nursing career this year in Dallas as well. Jenifer loves to spend her free time with family and friends traveling and golfing.

Q&A with Jenifer R. Slayton, APRN, FNP-C
1. What drew you to medicine?
I have always had a passion to help others, and medicine allows me to not only care for patients with their current health needs, but it also allows me to care for them by educating them on how to improve their health. I love interacting with patients and their families and medicine allows me to do that.
2. What are your passions outside of work?
Outside of work, I am passionate about traveling and golfing with my family and friends.
3. What’s your favorite restaurant?**
My favorite restaurants are Nobu, The Monarch, and III Forks.
4.Who would you consider to be a role model and why?
A have a few people who stand out as role models in my life which include my mom, my husband, and my daughter. All of these people have taught and exemplified what hard work, dedication, unwavering support, and unconditional love in my life.
5. What’s your favorite movie or book?**
This question is tough, as I love too many different movies.
6. What was the last TV show you binge-watched?
I love to watch everything! The last few shows that I binge-watched were Gilmore Girls, Virgin River, and ER. I also watch episodes of Friends most nights.
7. What do you enjoy most about being a Medical Provider?
After years of nursing and taking care of patients, I decided to go back to school to become a Nurse Practitioner. I worked as a nurse in a medical dermatology office and worked for a wonderful Physician Assistant. She was so patient, kind, and positive. She was a great role model for me to further my career. I love the idea of utilizing my love for caring for others to help improve the lives of my patients.
8. What is the best advice you have ever received?
Always work hard and do the right thing and always invest in yourself. When you find yourself trying to force things to work out, then take a step back and let everything work out how it is supposed to.
9. If you could have a conversation with any person or character who would it be and why?
My maternal grandmother, as she passed before I was born. She was also a nurse and loved to golf.
10. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Thai food or sushi.
