Q&A with Haylee “Rebecca” Hauser, MPAS, PA-C
1. What drew you to medicine?
I’ve always had a strong desire to help people. My initial interest in medicine was sparked by medical TV shows like Scrubs, and over time it deepened through a close family friend who would share inspiring stories from their experiences in the clinic and the operating room. Ultimately, these influences led me to discover my calling as a physician assistant.
2. What are your passions outside of work?
Photography, thrifting, interior design, D&D, concerts
3. What’s your favorite restaurant?
There are so many I like it’s hard to pick. Goodwins, Yujo omakase, Radichi Wood Fire Grill, Village Bakery, Sushi Sam’s, are a couple I enjoy.
4. Who would you consider to be a role model and why?
Ken Jeong inspires me because of his unique journey from being a practicing physician of internal medicine to successful comedian and actor. His path reminds me that you can excel in multiple passions, embrace every part of who you are, and fearlessly chase your dreams, both inside and outside of medicine.
5. What’s your favorite movie or book?
The Hunger Games, To Kill a Mocking Bird, Little Thieves, East of Eden
6. What was the last TV show you binge-watched?
Stranger things, The Pitt
7. What do you enjoy most about being a Medical Provider?
I enjoy watching my patients improve their chronic conditions (such as food allergies, eczema, asthma, nasal polyps, ect.) and helping them enhance their quality of life and regain control of their health. I also value building meaningful long-term relationships and seeing my patients grow along the way.
8. What is the best advice you have ever received?
“This too shall pass.” Whether you’re in good times or bad times, what you’re experiencing will not last forever. Cherish the good times.
9. If you could have a conversation with any person or character who would it be and why?
If I could talk to any character, I would choose Uncle Iroh from Avatar: The Last Airbender for his peace, wisdom, and gentle guidance—and because I’m certain he could make an incredible cup of tea.
10. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Probably potatoes (any form) as they are so versatile! You can have french fries, chips, mashed potatoes, tater tots ect.
